Learning Environment

The purpose of the Learning Environment Professional Practice Standard is to ensure that teachers create and manage a welcoming and well-organized classroom that is optimal for student learning and success. Effective management practices cultivate structure, respect, and focus in the classroom. A room full of cheerful colors and good organization help make all students feel welcome and ready to learn. Incorporating rules, expectations, and procedures into the room is a highly successful method of maximizing instructional time and reducing disruption. The focus of a learning environment is ultimately academic growth; thus desks and other classroom furniture need to be arranged in a way that is conducive to learning. An effective learning environment is paramount to ensuring student success.
