Instructional Planning

The purpose of the Instructional Planning standard is to ensure that teachers plan lessons which incorporate the Virginia Standards of Learning, the school’s curriculum, and the necessary resources, strategies, and data to effectively serve all students.  This standard is significant because it helps guarantee a quality and well-rounded education for every child.  Implementation of the Instructional Planning standard is vital for the success of teachers, as well as their students. I’ve heard it said that “when you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” My lesson plans have clear objectives based on Bloom’s Taxonomy , are designed to appeal to various intelligences (Gardner), and include a well developed plan for delivering the material. Taking the time to plan effective lessons ensures that every student receives quality instruction best suited to his/her needs.
